Hemorrhoid Cream – What’s the hype?

My daughter told me models on TikTok are promoting hemorrhoid cream as a cure for dark circles and wrinkles. Sounds similar to the Korean skincare trend slugging, which involves slathering your skin with petrolatum or Vaseline to help improve the skin’s moisture content. Slugging works by trapping water underneath an occlusive layer or barrier-forming ingredient, like petrolatum. I have never tried slugging and probably never will because it was not recommended by my esthetician concern with using Vaseline is milia, which are tiny white bumps on your skin. (I will comment on this in another article).  So here are the facts about hemorrhoid creams from my experience and research.

Why the interest in hemorrhoid cream for wrinkles?

Wrinkles are caused by several things. They can be from aging, sun damage, smoking, and stress. In order to prevent wrinkles, you must take good care of your skin. The best way to do this is by using good quality skin care products daily for wrinkles. So what is hemorrhoid cream supposed to do?

How does hemorrhoid cream work? The Science.

Hemorrhoid creams are topical ointments containing various active ingredients designed to help with the symptoms of hemorrhoids.

These active ingredients include allantoin, zinc oxide, witch hazel, and other ingredients that can reduce inflammation and shrink the blood vessels in your anus.

This is important because it helps reduce the pain associated with hemorrhoids by reducing swelling and irritation around the area. This can be helpful if you have been experiencing symptoms such as itching or burning in your anal region. Some people also find relief from applying these products after diarrhea or constipation because they help soothe any discomfort caused by those issues. (sorry about the TMI, it is science)

What are the benefits of using hemorrhoid creams on the face?

Wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness are all signs of aging skin. You may want to know what hemorrhoid creams can do for you before you make a purchase. The key to preventing wrinkles is MOISTURE, as I was told by my esthetician. Sorry, but there is NO magical cure, products help reduce the appearance, but the only remedy is plastic surgery, from the research I have done. I don’t believe I will ever get plastic surgery, but I always look for products to keep my skin moisturized.

You probably already know that many different types of moisturizers are on the market. But if you’re looking for just moisture in your everyday skin care products, then hemorrhoid creams may be able to provide that for you.

A good hemorrhoid cream uses ingredients like vitamin E and aloe vera to help keep your skin healthy and elastic. These ingredients work together to nourish damaged cells in the epidermis (the top layer of your skin). This will help keep wrinkles from forming around the eyes or forehead area because collagen production is increased by using this type of cream regularly. I use vitamin E and vitamin D capsules soft gels as an eye cream, which is super affordable. You must poke a hole in the capsule, dab on your finger, and light pat under your eyes. It is so amazing! I believe it helps me get vitamin D & E because my skin will absorb the vitamins, and nothing else is added to the product except the vitamins. So adding hemorrhoid cream intrigued me. So I tried it and started to use it in the evening.

I use COSMEDIX Eye Genius Brilliant Eye Complex, which has Vitamin E and Borago oil to help soothe and calm puffiness. It is more expensive than hemorrhoid cream, but it helps because it has five firming peptides, which reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. At the same time, light-reflecting mica instantly illuminates the under-eye to minimize the appearance of dark circles. So how did the hemorrhoid cream compare?

Cosmedix eye doctor and jade gua sha

I used it for 1 week and did notice that my eyes are brighter, but it could be a combination of the Cosmedix Eye complex that I use. Some people use it on other parts of the face, but it feels too greasy, and I would not recommend using it on other parts of your face (especially if you have acne or sensitive skin). Why?

Side effects of using hemorrhoid cream on your face.

Using hemorrhoid cream for facial skin problems can cause side effects. These include:

  • Skin irritation and redness
  • Skin dryness and flaking
  • Skin peeling
  • Skin irritation and itchiness (itching) of the skin to use the cream on your face, which may increase if you use too much of it or if you use it for a long time without stopping, so you have to stop using it because it is causing too much itching on your cheeks, forehead or nose area
  • Sun sensitivity – using this product on your face can make you more sensitive to sunlight than usual
  • These are mild reactions and subside within a few minutes after application. If you notice any other unusual symptoms (such as fever or dizziness) while using this product, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor if necessary.

Remember, the cream was not designed to help under eye dark circles and puffiness.

Hemorrhoid creams are usually applied to the affected skin area and gently rubbed in. If you’re using a cream that requires refrigeration, be sure it’s at room temperature before applying it; otherwise, your skin may react negatively and cause irritation or inflammation.

Final thoughts to keep in mind.

Hemorrhoid cream is a fantastic product that can help you moisten wrinkles under your eyes. It promotes new cell growth, making it perfect for those who want to stay young and beautiful! The best part about using hemorrhoid cream for wrinkles is that there are minimal side effects because this cream was made specifically to reduce swelling and shrink blood vessels for the anus but can be used under the eyes. I recommend trying it for a month and seeing how you like it. It is not that expensive, and if you don’t notice a difference, you can save it for later to use if you ever get hemorrhoids. (just a thought)
